Like everyone else I have been devestated at the loss of Columbia, and her crew. I was very privaleged to have a small piece of flown payload bay liner, which I took to work with me today. I carefully guarded it, I thought... When I got home, I discovered it is not in the folio that I had it in. I am sick over it. I hope it is somewhere at work, I will leave no stone unturned tomorrow. This was from STS 93, it had nothing to do with the last mission. But it was part of Columbia. I sure hope it turns up. I am also in grief over the loss of my grand father who passed away last week, so I know I have not been thinking too straight today. If you pray, please pray that this small historic artifact is not lost forever. If you don't pray, then at least send your good wishes, I can use all the help I can get right now. If I am able to recover it, it will go to a safe place and stay there. I will let you know what happens.Ed ------------------ "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." Psalms 19:1 NIV |

There is one on ebay now, but with the tragedy you are sure to get a bunch of bidders who don't know the value of it. Unless you are willing to pay a lot: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3205981066&category=416 |

Thanks for the tip Ben, i do appreciate it. But, i have some wonderful news. Columbia has come home!!!! It was outside where I work for over a day. It is loose inside a small plastic bag, it is not in a heavier book mark. It could have just blown away. But, it was right next to where I parked this morning, just 2 parking spaces over. which amazing since I searched the lot twice yesterday. I could have floated up to stairs to work. This is nothing short of a miracle, and an answer to prayer. My thanks to Ben, and Al who replied, and any one who might have offered up a little prayer. it is safe and home! Like Ed, I too am priveleged to have a piece of Columbia in a medallion given to me by one of the VP's of Martin Marietta. It has been a treasured part of my collection for some time now. I know how you feel losing something like your piece of Columbia. I had some medallions stolen and was absolutely sick, until they were recovered. I wish you the best of luck in finding your piece of history. |
