I took a day off and drove up to Kansas city to see Dr. Aldrin receive the 2002 Harry S. Truman Good Neighbor Award.I and the 400 attendees were very dissapointed that Dr. Aldrin wasn't there. He graciously thanked the Foundation for the award by vidotape, and noted his Dr. had fobidden him to be here.
Any one have any knowledge of his health? Is he OK?
I noticed a few days ago that his appearance was deleted from the "Sightings" calendatr but didn't think about it. When there is a cancellation, can it be noted as it might have affeted my travel plans.
As I'm a big admirer of former President Truman, I enjoyed the experience. Got to mmet some Congressional Medal of Honor winners, and the Truman Silver Veteran's medal winner, Colonel Thomas Holden, USMC retired. He was the pilot who rescued the last group of Marines from guarding the US embassy in Saigon April 30, 1975.
Astrounauts are not our only heroes, and it was a pleasure to thank these brave men.
