I think it is wonderful that Dave Scott has been providing his technical expertise on the movie Apollo 13, HBO's From the Earth to the Moon, and the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal.
But, what ever became of SST? This was his business that I was able to attend a stock options meeting about 15 years ago. In that meeting he outlined a proposal to build a space tug, that could be reused, as well as used by both the Space Shuttle, and the Aeriane rockets of the ESA. I think it was a fantastic idea. But, it seems to have died an untimely death. That, or it is on a very slow track for R & D. Does anybody know what is going on with this project? If not, could someone ask Dave Scott at his private signing? I would have loved to have invested in it, but, I had no funds to do so at that time.

I am a little surprised, and disapointed that no one can provide any information on the status of Dave Scotts Company SST. If his company has gone in the tank, as I sadly suspect it has, it might partly account for why he might be a little grumpy. I don't know. This is what I have heard lately. He was fine when I met him some 15 years ago. I would hate to see his space tug die on the vine, when it seemed like such a neat idea. One that would, and perhaps could save us some money with throw away rockets used to deploy high orbit satelites. I have moved recently, and can't put my hand on the information pack that I got that night. It has the company information, including address and phone number. I have searched the internet, and found nothing. Is'nt anybody interested in things concerning Dave Scott beyond adding his autograph to your collections? I am not critisizing the desire to do so, as I have al ready done so. But, I think he had a great idea. Maybe we could help him make it happen. It might restore his faith in the Space Collecting community if we were to seek to rally to his cause. So, does anybody have any info on this? Or, did I just have a very vivid dream 15 years ago that produced a mysterious photo of Dave Scott and Me?

Ed,

My memories are really faint in this matter, but I vaguely remember Scott being put to trial and sentenced to have embezzled funds given to him to finance this very project you mention which never became reality. As I say, my memory is faint and I might not remember the details, but there definitely was a court sentence and he was found responsible.

Which, of course, could equally account for a sour face .... :-)

WOW! I sincerely hope you are wrong. All though I honestly don't know one way or the other. How awfull if true! Does anybody have any additional information, or a link on the web where I might find out more? Because if it is true, then Dave Scotts name is mud, and his autograph should be worthless. If it is not true, then I want to make sure that his name is cleared, because I still think he did a tremendous service to his country on his three missions. So lets proceed very carefully here. This is a very serious charge.
