I plan to visit Stennis Space Center near New Orleans after the AHOF. If anyone can help me get introduced to someone over there, I'd appreciate.------------------ François Guay Collector of litterature, notebooks, equipment and memories! |

I do no know any at Stennis. I just want to say I visited the museum 6 years ago on my home from visiting JSC. It was a small museum then. they did offer bus tours every hour to tour the place. I recntly fumbled around on KSC set and came up with links to the different NASA facility. I browse Stennis site and it showed they expanded the museum. You will be stopped at the guard gate and be question of your destination. You wil be given (when I visited) a pass to display on the dashboard for entry. This may not be what your asking but I though I toss it out. enjoy your time there. |

A warning that you might want to call ahead first before making the journey. Many NASA centers -- even their visitors' complexes -- are closed due to the events of September 11. For example, Goddard's Visitor's Center is closed indefinitely. And all visitors to Ames -- whether you know someone or not -- are being turned away. |

I last visted Stennis Space Center this past July. A couple of things have changed since lunarrv15 was last there. First off, you can no longer drive into the center. You have to stop at the Mississippi Welcome Center on the Mississippi/Louisiana border and ride a bus in. As you go in, you will go through the tour and see all of the test stands. The museum has expanded, but I noticed a couple of things missing that I always liked to see, such as Fred Haises's Apollo 13 space suit. The gift shop is bigger, and I spent a little there last visit. It is nothing like KSC or JSC, but if your passing through, it is worth a look. I always enjoyed Stennis because it was near my grandparent's house, and the only NASA facility I could visit on a regular basis.I don't anything about wether Stennis is open or not since Sept. 11. I know that even before Sept. 11, they didn't allow video around the test stands and always took your car rego info. On a side note, Stennis is also the home of the Naval Oceanographic Office. Well, there goes my vacation if Nasa is shuttling down the visitor centers. Was thinking of seeing Stennis since they expanded. Was going to see STS108 launch but casuway is closed and I do not have a interest to watch it from 12 miles away.I can go back an visit Neil Armstrong museum. Last was there two years agoe. Then the Lewis Research Center (now John Glenn Center) is 4 hours drive. maybe visit them again. Oh wow, fun vacation. | |
