I want to publicly praise Michael Orenstein & Alan Lipkin for the spring 2001 Superior Space Memorabilia auction. As most of you know Michael is now "top dog" at Superior. I think some the the changes instituted in the last few months have vastly improved this auction.

The online catalog was light years ahead of previous efforts. Much easier to view & "window shop". The online bidding feature, even though it has a quite few bugs yet to be worked out (might be ebay's problem though, not Superior's), is a positive step in the right direction.

Michael & Alan were both helpful in resolving problems both before & after the auction. First rate service, which I hope will continue.

On a personal note one of my items was mis-listed. Michael bent over backwards to accommodate my wishes to correct the error.

I know some of you don't like Michael, but maybe y'all should reevaluate your opinions & give Michael & Superior a second chance. I give this last auction a grade of B+. I think it might grade an A next auction. (No I'm NOT working for Superior & Michael knows nothing of this post)

Hey gang, how were your experiences, both as sellers & as buyers?

Well, I won 3 items in the Superior auction. About a week after the auction, I received an e-mail advising me of my winnings and giving a phone number to call in my credit card. I called that very day and gave them my credit card number. After about another week, I received an invoice from them. I wrote my credit card number on the invoice, signed it and returned it to Superior. That was about a week ago and I'm still waiting to receive my items. I know they are very busy. Last time I sent them a check and received my items in short order. I thought using my credit card would speed things up. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

I was very happy with the auction.

My only complaint? Too much competition from the Internet! But, it is their right to conduct their business as such.

I won about 9 items. I waited about three days before even trying to call them to confirm my bids. I figured they would have their hands full. I drove up Friday and picked my items up. (I do have the luxury of calling in sick from work and only having to drive about 45 miles.)

The Superior staff was very helpful. One young man even helped carry my items down to the car for me.

I was very pleased. I am by no means a seasoned auction person and I was a little bit intimidated by the whole process of bidding so quickly. However, I found the Superior staff very helpful and courteous every step of the way.

All I can say is that last year I won the Apollo 10 Photographic Analysis NASA SP book which was very poorly packed (just put in a lightweight US Postal cardboard envelope which arrived torn up )send overseas to Europe ... If they do the same with the items I've won this time ... Superior can keep them !

All times are CT (US)
