I have read somewhere, that the Apollo 11 crew carried a moon landing stamp (not the ones you lick and put on letters, but one that you stamp in ink then stamp it on the envelope or stamps.) Is this true, because I bought a large postcard a few years ago with a moonlanding stamp mark on it. I was told that the stamp that made the mark was taken to the moon on Apollo 11. (The postcard wasn't stamped on the moon). I've always wondered if that was true or was I for a ride? Can anyone clear that one up for me? Jacqueline |

The "stamp" you refer to, a cancellation really, can be seen on page 274 in Relics 3. The cancel device that produced it was not carried to the moon. It is simply a souvenir cancel. More info on the flown cancel appears on page 262 in Relics, and in a number of other books including, I think, Collins' Carrying the Fire. |
