What a great thought someone passed on the other day - Imagining a century from now when we colonize other areas of the universe and we can't haul off one of the Apollo command modules to house in a traveling space museum - Small artifacts for all to share will remind us of our beginnings, our motivations and inspirations. It reminded me of one of the Star Trek episodes when the captain had a autographed baseball in a holder aboard the ship as a memento of life on earth. I knew I was preserving these great artifacts for something. It is not always clear to me why I am so passionate or compulsive about collecting. This observation brought new possibilities and motivations - Thank you

Same here. I've always thought that if one or more of my grandchildren was on a moon colony and asked how we started into space, I could go to my collection and explain it. That's why I collect.
