While cruising the internet I was surprised to find a weightless EVA training photo of Dick Gordon straddling the Gemini nose to attach the tether from the Agena to the Gemini.
I had always thought that his move during the mission was an innovation of the moment, not a practiced technique. Pete Conrad had seemed impressed with the move, saying "Ride 'm cowboy!"

Not an answer to your question, but it is not Dick Gordon in the training photo. It is his backup Bill Anders. NASA photo S66-47866 dated August 11, 1966.

Thank you for correcting me. I did not see an identification in the photo description, so I used deductive extra sensory mistaking.
