Several photographs taken by Gemini 7 of Gemini 6A show the spacecraft from the rear with some kind of "wires" trailing from the back of the adapter module. Was this intended? Did other Gemini spacecraft also have these 'wires'?

Upon close examination there appears to be a rod of some type from the rear with two small guy wires from the end of the rod to the outer circumference of the adapter module. The wires I am referring to seem to be caught in the guy wires.

It was not intended. It is the remains of the separation system. And it was likely that other missions had them.

I suspect later missions did not have these trailing straps. These would - just an opinion on my part - possibly present a potential hazard for EVA operations with the AMU which was stored in the aft end of the adapter. It was planned to be tested on Gemini 8 and later missions. I suspect the straps were mentioned not simply as a "by the way" observation but because they were not supposed to be there.

That image is a photo taken by Gemini 6A of Gemini 7.

I believe that the crew of one of the missions prior to Gemini 7/6, probably Gemini 4 or 5, reported that something "slapped" a cockpit window during spacecraft sep from the second stage or during an OAMS burn.

Engineers speculated that it might have been caused by a length of this plastic tape-like material from the back of the equipment module. I do not recall any mention of similar material encountered during the EVAs on Geminis 9A through 12.

Scott mentioned that he was going to "clean up" things during Gemini 8 EVAs.
