Is there somewhere where I can get the dimensions of the Apollo command and service modules? Were they all slightly different? Specifically I was searching for the circumference and diameter of the CM base but all dimensions would be helpful. |

This Apollo Command Service Module cutaway illustration gives overall dimensions (click on that image for a higher resolution image). All of the vehicles were the same dimensions. |

I would just like to add my two cents to the diagram. There were four nozzles on the launch escape system not three. The diameter of the service module is 12 feet, 10 inches or 154 inches. The diameter of the command module is 160 inches. Yes, there is a slight bulge. You can notice it while standing in front of ASTP display at the National Air and Space Museum. If you stand right in line of the command and service modules you will see the bulge. |

Thanks for the very detailed info guys. Buel kindly started this thread on my behalf as I'm looking to make a 1/10 scale CSM model. My research from various sources seems to point to a diameter of 12 feet, 10 inches too, not including the thrusters or housings. I did ask Al Worden and he guessed at 15 feet but I guess he didn't need to know such things... guess he had enough to think about while orbiting the moon.I wasn't aware of a command module bulge. I know the outer curved edge of the heat shield shows when coupled to the service module but I thought it was the same max diameter as the SM. Any more info gratefully received. Thanks again. |

If you need details for a model then the David Weeks drawings is what you need. |

Lou, out of interest, what was your source for the service module diameter of 12 feet 10 inches? |

Thank you all for your help. I have settled on 12'10" as a base diameter. |
