Some time ago I watched Spacecraft Films Apollo 12 DVDs while at the same time reading the relevant portions of the Apollo Flight Journal, so as to better understand what's going on.

I noticed in the Flight Journal that one of the TV shows starts at 62:52 GET as evidenced by Carr's remark:

062:52:25 Carr: 12, Houston. We have you in blushing black and white. And the color's coming in now.
However, on my DVD the images start at the following point:
063:18:58 Carr: 12, Houston. We can see the dust particles very well.
I asked Mark Gray about this but he says everything's on the DVDs, however I have been unable to find the part in between these two remarks, during which time the LM is entered and checked. Obviously I'm curious to see the missing part.

Has anyone else noticed this or knows what happened to this section of the tv show?

Without checking this, I believe you are talking about the part where they enter the LM on the way to the moon? The first half of this transmission is missing on the Spacecraft Films DVD because it is not in the NASA film archives. So Mark is correct that everything NASA has is on the DVD, but it is not complete.

It would have been great if he had been able to find that missing part in the archives of one of the television stations, as was the case with Apollo 9.

Thanks for clarifying that. So apparently NASA lost more archive material than just the original Apollo 11 tapes. It's a pity, let's hope one day someone will find them back!

On several missions the camera was actually turned off for short periods while the carrier frequency used to downlink the video signal was still active.

Perhaps this is what happened here. I don't have "Live TV From the Moon" with me, but the TV schedules do point out the instances where this was confirmed to have happened. Does anyone have a copy handy to check this?

I don't that that is the case here. Reading the transcript, it is clear that Houston is responding to the broadcast. So I think Ed Hengeveld's remark about the tape being lost is probably, and sadly, the right explanation.
