I received this question from a student, and hoped that perhaps the remarkable braintrust that is the collectSPACE community would know the answer: quote: I am researching for a project about the landing of Mr Armstrong and Mr Aldrin on the moon. Could you give me some information about their first meal in the space craft after they returned from their moon walk and the menu for the presidential banquet that was held in their honour after they returned to Earth. I am hoping to be an aeronautic engineer one day and my project is all about the heroes of space research. I would be grateful for your assistance.

The A11 press kit shows the following food stowed in the LEM.Meal A 8 Bacon Squares Peaches 6 Sugar Cookie Cubes Coffee Pineapple Grapefruit drink Meal B Beef Stew Cream of Chicken Soup 4 Date fruit cake Grape Punch Orange Drink Plus the following 8 Extra Beverage 4 Dried Fruit 4 Candy Bar 2 Bread 1 Ham Salad Spread 2 Turkey and Gravy 2 Spoons I don't know who ate what but I'll have a look through some documentation I have to see what I can turn up, and post up if I find anything. Unlike the CSM the LEM only had cold water for hydration of food. Cold coffee and chicken soup, can't wait for that! Hope that helps Dave

Well it's a rumor that Tang was invented as a result of the space program. |
