I recently purchased the item pictured below and need your help on identification.

I was originally thinking it was from the Apollo program based on the part number. I have other Apollo, Saturn V items with the same beginning part number, 75M. These items came in original packaging and were labeled as Saturn V first stage and have the Boeing NASA contract number.

The only thing with this item is it appears that the date stamped is January 11, 1959. Would this be too early for Apollo? Would it be from Project Mercury or some other earlier program?

Lastly, any idea on what it was used for? It looks like some sort of lever that pivots on a shaft, 1.25" diameter, and moves something (rod or cable) connected to the hole. The dimensions are 8 by 4.25 by 6 inches and weighs about 5 pounds. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Doesn't look like flight hardware. Can't visualize a mechanism using that on a rocket or spacecraft.
