Opinions please. Finally got one of these presentations of flown remnants from Alan Bean's Apollo 12 spacesuit.

Any other info? Cannot find White Sands report on Apollo 12 spacesuit testing.

Apollo 12 Flown Space Suit Remnants from Astronaut Alan Bean's space suit. A 2 inch plastic display contains two sections of Flown Space Suit remnants. The plastic display is affixed to the informative COA presentation sheet from Sandy Clarkson of The Right Stuff Space. This lot is in excellent condition with minimal handling wear.

I designed the presentation page for the space suit material for Right Stuff Space. I'm sure I have some of the support material on hand that you're looking for. I'll take a look tomorrow and see what I have.

The Apollo Lunar Surface Journal has additional information regarding what was removed from Alan Bean's suit. From Ulli Lotzmann:
...the Integrated Thermal Micrometeroid Garment (ITMG) of Al's suit was removed for post-flight analysis in late Januray 1970. The objective was to provide information on degradation of materials after an actual mission exposure.

The two lower arm sections were not disassembled. I'm not sure about both lower legs. The left lower leg (at least) was cut off for dust propagation determination at the White Sands Test Facility but, later, was re-attached to the suit.

The parts of the ITMG other than both lower arms and both lower legs with boots [as the suit exists today at the National Air and Space Museum] were not part of the flown suit.

All times are CT (US)
