What are your thoughts on this Apollo 11 crew-signed book?I like the Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin autographs but the Mike Collins signature looks a little shaky. Yes, I am aware of Steve Zarelli and may contact him at a later date but I just thought I'd run it past cS first. |

Agreed with your impression on all three signatures. The Collins one does not match up with any that I have. It would be interesting to see what Steve Z. thinks. |

I always find Neil Armstrong signatures difficult to determine, none of them, especially the genuine ones look quite 'human' to my eyes, they all have a whiff of robotic about them — so I'll pass on judgement for the Armstrong signature. The Buzz Aldrin signature looks good, but I'd want to have it authenticated as hand written as opposed to the NASA 1969 autopen (which it is very very similar to — but then of course his actual hand written signatures would look like the autopen pattern). I have much more confidence in the Michael Collins signature — it looks nothing like any of his autopen patterns, but then again a lot of his hand written autographs vary considerably. I have one, fully authenticated, that is more abrupt than this one*. This one also looks like it is partially smeared by his hand, which I've also seen before. It looks a lot like his 'style' but is quite unique in appearance — I'd say it was definitely his. * If you want I will put up a photo of his 'minimalist' signature. | |
