I have always wanted an item of clothing signed by Apollo astronauts, like a hat or tie. Such items always seemed like a fun way to display autographs, and show my enthusiasm at space events. And so I treated myself last year to a jacket signed by 26 Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Skylab astronauts. I am posting about it here because one astronaut who did not sign it when the others did 50 years ago is Fred Haise. I am going to send it to him for signing since that will complete the Apollo 13 crew (along with Apollo 7, 8, 11, and 12); and there is a large space under Swigert. My question is: can anyone recommend a marker that will closely match those other signatures, and not bleed/spread on the fabric? Will a good ol' Sharpie suffice? I'll try to find a tiny out-of-the-way spot to test what people suggest. Thanks! (If you are curious, here are the signers: Wally Schirra, Gordon Cooper, Frank Borman, James Lovell, Walt Cunningham, Charles Conrad, Donn Eisele, Gene Cernan, Dick Gordon, Bill Anders, Michael Collins, Tom Stafford, Jack Swigert, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Stuart Roosa, Jack Lousma, Ed Gibson, James A. McDivitt, Joe Kerwin, Alan L Bean, Al Worden, Joe Engle, Jack Schmitt, Charlie Duke Jr, and Bill Pogue.) |
