Looking for advice as what to do with a complete VHS video library of the space shuttle missions. The library contains all flights except for STS-97. I purchased these many, many years ago from AVD Services. These tapes include the mission highlights from each flight and bonus footage including post launch press conference and astronaut conferences.Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Are they worth saving or should I discard them? Thank you. |

Would you be able to convert them to DVD or would that be prohibited? |

I was in a very similar situation a few years ago: I had a very extensive collection of shuttle mission coverage - mainly NASA TV coverage, and of course various news coverage throughout the years. I wound up buying a VHS to digital file converter: I converted all the tapes to .MP4 files. It took a very long time to do (months). But in the end, what took up a closet and weighed a couple hundred pounds now all fits on a single hard-drive. Well, two since you can bet I have that library backed-up. That being said: since I still have gaps in my collection, and I still retain the necessary hardware, I'd be curious to hear more about what your collection consists of. Is it just the actual flight day video file compilations from each mission, or does this contain, several hour long, "as it happened" raw coverage? | |
