Recently I purchased four Apollo 11 color photographs (AS11-40-5868/5875/5944/5947) on glossy paper that have a rectangular purple rubber stamp identification on the back that is identified as MSFC Form 1363 (Rev. Sept 1967). The identification has the negative number, the month and year the photograph was printed (August 1969), photograph number (which is different from the negative number), a description of the photograph and other information including '1st Generation Master' in the description. There are no identification numbers on the front of the photographs.

I've seen vintage Apollo 11 glossy photographs with red, black and blue identification numbers on the front of the photograph but none identified in this way and was wondering if any member of collectSPACE has seen other Apollo 11 photographs identified this way. I'm also interested in opinions on the '1st Generation Master' identification and their potential auction value.

I've seen this "block stamp" identifier many times before. While it's not usual I wouldn't call it rare either. I also don't ever recall seeing it on resinous (i.e. post 1973) paper types.

I've also seen several photos stamped "first generation master"...and have assumed the photo print thus stamped was made from a first generation master negative reel or an original copy reel from the first master; can't imagine it could mean anything else.

All times are CT (US)
