I have this poster that I did when John Young was head of the Astronaut Corps. I cut out the heads from a picture and mounted them alphabetically and got them to autograph underneath. These are the earliest space shuttle astronauts!

What do you think its worth?

Very nice! (Although "the earliest shuttle astronauts" would include people like Young and Crippen, and other members of Group 7.)

I didn't do an incredibly careful check, but it looks like every member of Groups 8 and 9. The signatures are dark and clear. Lithos signed by all members of either group sell for over $500, so I think this unique item would sell for over $1000.

Great gathering of 56 shuttle astronaut signatures, Pete, all genuine of that vintage
era.

Both NASA astronaut Group 8 and 9 are complete with two more added names of Claude Nicollier and Wubbo Ockels of ESA. They trained together in 1980-81 with the NASA Group 9 astronaut candidates and were later included as part of Group 9.

Value wise, as mentioned above is right on, as it could be anywhere from $500 to $1,000 or more in my opinion.

Very nicely done, Pete, and something quite scarce with autographs (56) of both NASA Astronaut Groups 8 and 9 together on one item. Also it contains autographs of 5 of the 7 Challenger/51L astronauts.

Framed and matted under protective glass would make for a very impressive display.

And I agree that somewhere between $500 and $1,000 is a good value estimate.

But I wonder how you had something this large autographed, as it would have been difficult to mail something this size through the mail and maybe many times? In person?

All times are CT (US)
