The downsizing of flown items is ridiculous. Here is a 1 mm x 1 mm flown Apollo 11 Kapton sample. The foil measuring approximately 1mm x 1mm is enclosed in an acrylic cube with magnified lid for viewing. The acrylic cube is housed in a padded 5-1/2" X 6-1/2" glass topped riker display box.An information card is included with images of the Apollo 11 mission and details about the mission. |

In general I agree, but with the continually rising prices that are paid on even items that were once treated as common, there has to be a way for new collectors — and perhaps more importantly, young collectors — to get involved in the hobby. It used to be you could a half-inch square of Kapton for $100. Now the same would be a few hundred dollars (or more, depending on how it is presented). So, assuming the item is authentic and is already a fragment from which a smaller piece is being cut, I see no problem with trying to offer lower cost, entry level items to engage a new audience. |

Might be a better presentation in a smaller card format since the graphic display for this one, in my opinion, does over-power the small Kapton segment, providing of course as Robert pointed out, the flown Kapton is authentic. But to each his own. | |
