Just got an email from Stack's Bowers Galleries announcing the sale of silver Robbins medallions where this statement is made:
Generally, they were ordered by the mission crew as personal mementos of their flights and were taken to the lunar surface in the Landing Module.
I have emailed Stack's regarding the error. I am unaware of any silver examples that were flown to the lunar surface. There may have been a handful of the gold examples that are surface flown.
