For those in the Huntsville, Alabama area, an estate sale offering the possessions of Operation Paperclip member Ernst Stuhlinger is set to begin Tuesday, March 19. This is a home on the bluff of Rowe Drive and belonged to a German scientist who worked with Werner Von Braun so do we ever have collectibles!! This home is filled with scientific maps, posters, first editions that are signed along with lots of space and other equipment used in development. We have high end microscopes and other implements which were key to rocket science and the history of the Huntsville area.We will be taking reservations by Visa beginning on Monday morning and going through Monday at 5. The home will open on Tuesday and again on Friday and Saturday at the posted hours.  |

I had the good fortune to have dinner with Ernst's son last Thursday while in Huntsville. He has done all the planning for this estate sale and it didn't happen overnight. Looks like some great stuff will be available. |

Am I seeing things, or is that an SS logo on the Lafayette four track solid state reel-to-reel tape player (photo 364)? |

Clearly added after purchase (Lafayette did not utilize or apply any corporate logos closely approximating the SS symbol). Though the company existed prior to WWII, the tape recorder is a solid state device so its production would have occurred well after Stuhlinger was brought to America. |

Was Stuhlinger in the SS during WWII like Von Braun and Debus? |

This website page states that he was in the Wehrmacht in WW2, not the SS. |
