My dad (and grandfather) were stamp collectors. In 1975 at the age of 13, I wanted to get closer to my dad and one way of doing that was to learn about his interests. With the Apollo-Soyuz mission in the news, I thought collecting space related stamps would be interesting. He helped me start and correctly display a fantastic space stamp collection over the years, which I still enjoy looking at.

As time went on my interests changed to space covers as postal history and a great autograph material. My first signed cover came personalized from John Glenn. I was hooked!

I guess I'm old school, because I prefer collecting space covers with rubber stamp cachets over printed cachets. I highly recommend looking into joining the ATA Space Unit for anyone collecting space postal history.
