Would anyone be able to tell me whether they think this Apollo 11 crew cover has genuine signatures on it? Any opinion would be greatly appreciated!

Just my opinion, however, I don't like the Collins and Aldrin on it. Anyone else out there?

I have to tip my cap... it took stones to add a fake Aldrin and Collins to a real Armstrong.

Thanks to you all very much for that! I'm glad I asked your opinion. Was skeptical and for good reason it seems!

Much appreciated.

AAARRRGGGHHH. Someone should be whipped with a wet noodle for this. Can you just white out the forgeries leaving the Armstrong?

It needs to be destroyed. It's one thing if a real signature is accompanied by autopens, the item still might have value. Forgeries are another matter. Only other thing you could do is cut the Armstrong out, but that cover is done.

Destroying it would be a step too far for me. I wonder if you took a strong, focused UV light to the fake signatures if it would remove them — it wouldn't have much monetary value, sure, but to destroy a genuine Armstrong signature isn't appealing to me.

The Buzz signature is probably the worst fake I ever saw.

It just goes to show the value of buying from a trusted/respected person or dealer.

Wonder whether their "lifetime guarantee" would be very useful after it's purchased by an unsuspecting individual?!

Clearly you've never visited the Hall of Shame. It's an old site now but the quality of the exhibits stand the test of time.

I'm sure a paper doctor could remove the two bad signatures. The problem is you probably couldn't do it without also damaging the authentic Armstrong.

It would be a shame to destroy the Armstrong. It wouldn't be the most attractive option, but perhaps a strategically placed stamp or sticker could cover the bad signatures.

I wouldn't damage the Neil but resort it to a cut out, obviously very careful around the bottom of Neil. Agreed, nearly a "Custer massacre," such a Pity.

If, as expected, the USPS issues a stamp (or stamps) to mark the 50th anniversary, one could in theory create a fairly good looking double-canceled cover...

All times are CT (US)
