I am finishing up getting autographed by the last three astronauts I can get on it at Spacefest and was wondering what the best ink pen is to get for this. Anyone have any suggestions? |

If you are trying to match the signatures along the bottom I would suggest the Staedtler Lumocolor Black permanent marker in either a fine or super fine tip. You could order two online and see which one matches the width of the existing signatures.I won't speak for Novaspace but I believe this is the pen that they use for most of their signings when black ink is required. It produces a darker finished signature than a standard black Sharpie. |

Sure he's looking for a pen that matches the authentic signaures, not the printed ones. |

Just when I thought I was being helpful. I noticed the other signatures but it didn't click. |

A few years ago, I got Jim Lovell and Fred Haise to complete an Apollo 13 cover that had previously been signed by Jack Swigert. The Swigert signature was in blue fine point ink and was in great shape. I did a few tests with a variety of pens, trying to match the color and letter width as close as possible, all while considering as best I could any color change over time in the blue ink in the Swigert signature. I ended up with, oddly enough (!), a Fisher Space Pen #SPR81 (Blue Rocket Pen with Blue Ink). I just checked and there is a listing for this pen on eBay right now. This may or may not be what you're looking for. But if you're seriously trying for a close match, it might be a good pen to consider. |
