Does anyone have a successful experience with having silk material (i.e. a silk necktie) signed? If so, what is the best pen choice? I did an experiment with an old silk tie using a fine and medium point black Sharpie, a silver metallic Sharpie, fine and medium point Sakura silver and gold metallic paint pens and both a blue and black ball point pen. All of the Sharpies bled slightly with the fine point black Sharpie bleeding a bit less and providing better detail in the signature. All of the Sakura metallic pens, while making the signature “pop” nicely, bled pretty badly. Both ball point pens were hard to control the ink flow for a smooth signature. The fine point Sharpie, using a "drawing style" verses a quick signing style, produced the best signature example, although that best result wasn’t great. Did I just answer my own question or is there another pen choice that you’ve had better luck with? Thanks! |

Try the Staedtler (fine Sharpie-like) pens. Quite long lasting and thin point. | |
