Unusual, and would probably fail some authentications, but I think they're good.

I should add that, for the reasons above, I wouldn't recommend buying them, however. Mitchell is cheap enough to find "normal" example of; maybe buy those instead.

Thanks for that. However, if they are genuine but atypical it would make them rarer and more valuable would it not?

If the provenance accompanying the atypical signature was ironclad and the reason for the autograph being that way had an exceptional history, then perhaps it would command a premium, but in most cases, signature styles that divert from the norm are seen as a detraction, not an asset.

I concur with Robert. Atypical generally doesn't add value but decreases it. An example would be Alan Shepard signed items. Would you want a nice, clean full signature or an Ashep? I would assume atypical sigs are your rushed or in the heat of the moment quick sign and goes. No care or consideration put into it, unlike a more carefully crafted signature.

Regardless of authenticity, that would have been better off left unsigned.

Sometimes I wonder when I see autographed items:

  1. Who collects this?
  2. What did the astronaut think when someone handed them that to sign?

All times are CT (US)
