I was hoping someone might be able to tell if this is a preprint of Jim Lovell on this Space Shots promo sheet. It looks real but I thought I heard a lot of the preprinted sheets existed. |

No, to my knowledge, preprint-signed promo sheets were never done, but Lovell, Conrad, and Cernan did hand-sign a limited number of them when first introduced. Even though the sheets in the first series were numbered up to 9500, only about 500 of them were initially signed, but with Cernan not signing too many of the initial 500. It should also be pointed out that Lovell did in fact sign many of the promo sheets just by himself, therefore, which appears to be the sample depicted here. Yet others of this same series with only Lovell signing included an inscription of; "Gemini 7, 12, Apollo 8, 13."There were 2 other promo-sheet variations signed in the series by Space Ventures, Inc. in Dallas, TX, that included McCandless, Aldrin, and Russian cosmoanut Dzhanibekov.

Thanks Ken for the reply. The strange thing is with this is it's not on a cardstock. It evens says so in the lower left hand corner. The autograph looks fresh but the only sheets of these I've seen signed are on actual cardstock. |

Now you have me curious; What is printed on the back-side of the promo sheet? |

It's the back of the cards. The sheet looks just like an uncut sheet except it's on a different flimsier stock. The autograph does look good but I wanted to be sure. I thought someone on here might have a similar one. |

I have an identical sheet, and like yours, it is on a glossy flimsy stock. But mine also has signatures of Charles Conrad and Gene Cernan. In comparing my James Lovell to yours, it looks identical including distances from the bottom of the "Earthrise" photo and to the left side of the sheet. And even where the ink seems to thin out over the bottom of the "L" in Lovell looks identical, so it would seem printed to me. In addition, mine has the words "-Flyer- For Example Only" stamped in red in the center under the "Pete Conrad - Holding Camera" image. Interestingly enough, the Cernan signature is large and in similar pen to the Lovell, but the Conrad seems to be fine point and smaller. Sadly, I am not sharp enough to post a photo. |

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I was pretty sure I had seen this before. Hoping someone might be able to send a scan over but it looks to me that my suspicions are correct. Thanks for the response. |
