This T-shirt came to me with the back story that Rick Husband had presented it at a pre-launch dinner dance a few weeks before the Columbia disaster. However, I've always presumed that the half-mast U.S. flag that is in the background must mean that this T-shirt was produced AFTER the disaster, not before. I've never been able to locate this image anywhere else, or find a similar commemorative T-shirt. Can anyone clear this up? |

It appears that the shirt includes the date of the crew's loss, "February 1, 2003," which would by definition require it be produced after the tragedy (otherwise, there would be no reason to highlight that date and that date alone). |

Yes, I thought that looked suspect too. It would have been the landing date for the mission anyway, but you would expect any pre-flight t-shirt would be more likely to include the launch date than the landing date.To me it still strikes me as a rather odd memorial t-shirt, regardless. | |
