Does anyone have any artwork by Michael Collins? I'm considering buying a watercolor by Collins, but it's hard to decide based on the photos on Astronaut Central.

I did see two on Astro Auction a few days ago, but I can't seem to find them now. Someone here may know who had them for sale, I don't recall the seller name, sorry!

We have a water color of the F-104 he did. I like it because I worked on that aircraft type early in my career.

When we were at the Spacefest 2009 lunch we were seated with Mike Collins. I asked him about our watercolor hoping for some great F-104 story. The story was a friend had given him a model of the F-104 so he decided to paint a picture of it flying through the clouds because he could look at the model from all angles to be able to get the proportions correct. Not the story I was looking for, but a story none the less.

I bought a beachscape by Collins, showing a couple of people fishing and a lighthouse in the background, several years ago. I am glad I did - it's a nice picture to hang up in the summertime. (I like to rotate our pictures).

I think it's a matter of finding a painting you genuinely like in the first place, and then the knowledge of who did it, and being able to tell visitors about that, is worth the expense. Maybe Astronaut Central will be putting some new ones up soon - I just checked, and there aren't as many on their website as I've seen in the past, and most of them have been there for a while.

(I've always thought it would be cool if Collins sometimes included up in the sky the moon, as it is sometimes visible during the daytime. (My four-year-old son enjoys calling out "There's a sunny moon!")

I agree with stsmithva. If you want it on your wall, pick one you like to look at. I have two of his paintings and will not hesitate to brag about them, and the man who did the painting, to those who express an interest.

The folks at Astronaut Central do a nice framing job by the way...
