Is it me, or does this Mach 25 patch look wrong?

It is not just you. Looks very wrong to me.

Also I was unaware that Mach 25 was reached during reentry.

The incorrect punctuation is also a red flag. There should not be an apostrophe after Astronauts; it's not possessive, it's plural.

A few cS members (myself included) recently had a discussion about this piece on Facebook and the consensus was that the patch is a knock-off, the certificate itself is home made but the signatures look to be authentic.

So, the seller printed up this bogus page and somehow managed to get it signed by Bob, Bruce, and Jerry; then added the droopy nose patch? Now that's sad indeed.

Notice in the seller's feedback that he was offering what were color copies of the old Apollo era Snoopy MFA posters and one person called him on it and gave him a negative click after paying $255 for a set of them.

Too bad because he apparently was selling a lot of real space memorabilia. Still, integrity is everything in this business and once it's gone... you can't get it back.

Here is another item being offered by the same seller. Also looks like a homemade flown award certificate.

This is clearly a different patch to what was on the original certificate. Check photo number 7, the patch in that photo looks correct to me. It appears that it's been cut out and this bad, droopy nose, copy has been stuck in its place. Horribly done as well, with brown tape!

I just realized the seller is someone I know (in real life). I don't believe is trying to deceive anyone. I will contact him.

I believe that is a printed graphic and not a physical patch.

Apparently this is back up for sale on eBay with a whole 8% price reduction.

All times are CT (US)
