eBay item 121080471240 is a Peachstate forgery.

The seller has also listed an Apollo XI crew litho with a questionable Armstrong.

Huh? The item number you gave is for an Armstrong WSS.

What do you mean by "Peachstate Forgery?"

Peachstate Historical Consulting sold a large number (more than 100) of forged Neil Armstrong "signed" WSS portraits, the style of which is very well documented and acknowledged by the company's proprietor, David Frohman.

One the tell-tale signs (the "flag test") of a "Peachstate forgery" is the signature crossing over the U.S. flag on Armstrong's shoulder. Armstrong himself confirmed in a letter, "I don't write on the flag."

That said, the style of the forgery is also quite recognizable, to the point that just the shape of the signature identifies its source (Peachstate).

The listing was ended by the seller. Hopefully he was advised to contact Peachstate for a refund, but per Peachstate's policy, would only be granted his original purchase price back. Back in 1999 when he bought it, that would have been around $300. Had this unlucky buyer bought an authentic Armstrong WSS from a reliable source instead, he would have a desirable Armstrong WSS to sell for around $3,000 instead of a $300 refund.

Unfortunately, the seller still has the signed crew photo for sale which also bears a bad Armstrong. And that photo is garnering bids.

The Apollo 11 crew signed litho doesn't appear to be a Peachstate and looks like this seller had the misfortune of running into two unreliable sources. Peachstate did sell a lot of Apollo 11's, and typically they had bogus Armstrongs and Collins, but with authentic Aldrins, with "Apollo XI" added.

Interestingly, R&R Enterprises (pre-Scott Cornish and pre-Steve Zarelli) issued it a COA.

As a followup, RR proactively contacted the seller of the Apollo 11 crew photo to buy it back, to which the seller has agreed.
