I have two sets of patches and decals that I would like to know more about. I would be interested in finding out any history or information regarding these. I may sell them and was wondering what there value is?

The first set is a Jarvis/Walker patch and Baudry/Al-Saud patch plus decals.

The second set is a Baudry/Garn patch and two different Walker/Garn patches plus decals.

The Jarvis-Walker patch and Baudry-Garn patches were for the canceled missions. The Jarvis-Walker decal is "relatively" easier to find (I recall a recent eBay auction for it at $4), the patch more sought after.

Someone will know better than me on the Baudry-Garn patch, but it looks like your patch has had the original tab removed - when the flight was a six person crew, with just Baudry as a PS - and another tab sewn in its place. That may make it a little more desirable than later versions of the patch.

In fact, that is how all STS-51E patches were made. The Baudry tab was an integral part of the embroidery and cut off. On early versions (on dark blue twill background) this really shows; later they switched to light blue background.

Jarvis-Walker patch is worth the most.

Using eBay as the focus on what value these patches are...
  • the Jarvis-Walker patch highest bid was above $400. There is a discussion on this on patch and pins if it is retrievable. Think the auction was during August or September

  • the Baudry-Garn generally sells on eBay between $15-$25

It was on the 28th August 2011 that an AB Emblem presentation piece containing the Jarvis-Walker patch sold for $460.99.

Previous to that these patches sold for:

  • $345.00 in September 2009. (Lunar Legacies).
  • $49.99 on 16th June 2009. (eBay Buy It Now).
  • $70.00 on 14th November 2008. (Goldberg Auctions).

Note: Only four of these patches have come up for sale in the past five years. (As far as I know).
