Recently I purchased a Neil Armstrong signature. You can see it here. What do you think: is it authentic or not?

Thanks for your opinion.

I bought it from an man at the flea market. He had a folder with lots of signed photos. Especially movie stars. In my opinion genuine (I've collected autographs from movie stars). Have only paid a few dollars.

I noticed "Niel". However, I have often seen in normal signatures the same phenomenon when someone has signed very quickly.

I don't think it's authentic. The spelling of "Neil" aside (something which is never in doubt when you view the exemplars), the signature has several other problems which I believe bring serious doubt to it's authenticity.

Hopefully you didn't pay too much for it...

Did Neil even sign pictures of his alternate portrait (the non-smiling pic)? I don't think I have seen an actual authentic example of it so far, but I could be wrong. The photo looks way too new.

I agree... too many things wrong with it. I say it's fake.

I don't believe Neil ever sent out this portrait style. For his WSS portrait, he stuck to sending out the official NASA lithos that have the smiling portrait.

I would guess that any authentic signed non-smiling WSS images are quite uncommon...and would likely only occur when the collector provided the photo for Neil to sign.

All times are CT (US)
