I was scanning some auction houses and happened across this amazing signed sheet by 20 astronauts and NASA scientists. For those with deeper pockets than mine, enjoy! |

Bloomsbury first contacted collectSPACE about this piece back in November, and then again on Tuesday. In both instances, I advised there were several errors in the auction description: Ted H. Foss was not an administrator; he was a geologist with NASA's Geology and Geochemistry Branch.Likewise, U.S. Clanton (not Clayton) was a geologist, too. Eliot See has two 'l's in his first name: Elliot See Roger Chafee has two 'f's in his last name: Roger Chaffee Miles Collins is Mike Collins. Don Eisele's first name has two 'n's: Donn Eisele Buzzy Aldrin is Buzz Aldrin. On both occasions, the auction house said they would update their lot description but to date has not. Of course, the description doesn't detract from the piece itself but I find the lack of attention to what should be a very simple edit frustrating. |

And who is Theodore Freemen? It should be Freeman, no? |

And they would better promote this very special signed sheet by also stating in their description that the autographs of all 14 Group 3 NASA Astronauts are included. |

Also it's Schweickart and not Schweikart. |

Didn't this sell at another auction recently? |

While I don't expect an auction house to know that the piece contains all Group 3 astronauts (unless told by the consignor, whom I would expect, given the value), something so simple as Buzz Aldrin's name should easily be known. |

And more importantly, if an auction house doesn't even bother to get the correct names of the astronauts in their listing, how can one be assured that they have properly authenticated the item?Granted, I see no authenticity issues with the particular item being discussed (and believe it to be fully genuine), but it makes you wonder how much time and effort goes into reviewing other consignments. |
