I have a large collection of stamps and covers I want to sell. I have stuff from the International Tribute to flight set, from the golden replica of flight set, US stamps, plates and sets related to space, a ton of covers (both first day and commemorative) and also a number of small brass coins. Should I sell them here, to a stamp store or on Ebay and if so how do I determine a value?

I'm not familiar with the coin end of the hobby, but am with the stamps and covers.

If you sell to a stamp shop, the upside is that you get money right away, the downside is that they will only pay you 10 - 25% of the retail price for which they think they can resell your items.

Selling on eBay will take more time and effort, but you can get more money. Plus with eBay, you can search for completed sales of similar items to get a feel for prices.

The all-around bad news is that the US space stamps and plate blocks are rarely worth much more than face value. They were issued in huge numbers so they are not rare. The exceptions would be if you had one of the stamps with an error (misprinted or mis-perforated).

The US space stamp FDC's with the more common cachets (Artcraft, Artmaster, Fleetwood to name a few) are worth a buck or two each.

The space commemorative covers can vary a lot. Those issued after 1975 are pretty much "buck or two" covers. If you have commemorative covers from the 1950's or 1960's, someone should look through them to point out the good ones in there that you can highlight on eBay (or CS).

Just my 2 cents...

Email me a scan of what you have in space coins... I might be interested, and I can probably tell you their value.
