I have noticed recently that the Dragon NASA Apollo Astronaut "Buck" figure such as those on eBay are realising some high prices, one I saw sold for $205 and another is on buy it now at $250 and another buy it now at $289.99, any idea why they are going so high? I have a couple of them here, I also have the STS-1 "Crippen" version in the OSS that you don't see too often come up for sale, is that one worth something?Cheers guys Andy |

I was wondering that myself. I picked up a couple of Buzzes a few years ago at $65. After my dog chewed one of them up last year (BAD DOG!!! BAD DOG!!!!), I wanted to get a replacement, but I couldn't believe how expensive they have become. |

I think I paid about that for the 2 I have, and I have never seen another STS-1 figure for sale since I bought mine. It just shows how much things go up in price.BAD DOG! Cheers Andy |

The STS-1 "Robert Crippen" action figure was released by Kenner as part of their 1997 GI Joe "Classic Collection". Another figure, a Mercury astronaut modeled after John Glenn, was offered at the same time. Both figures were limited editions. As Kenner products, they were offered through mainstream toy stores, such as Toys R Us and therefore were both easier to find and quicker to sell out (thus making them harder to find). Dragon's "Buck" and "Buzz Aldrin" action figures were only offered through specialty hobby shops, but had a more limited production (especially "Buck", which Dragon used to essentially test the market for the licensed Buzz Aldrin figure). Both the Kenner and Dragon series action figures were praised by collectors and enthusiasts for their attention to detail, which is probably why they are so sought after today. | |
