According to the bid history, the seller started the auction at $125. One bidder (with a feedback of just 27) seems to have been responsible for driving the lot so high (raising his own bid several times over) and has been in competition with another bidder ever since. Based on the questions posed to the seller, it looks like there may be interest in using the suit for its intended purpose, which could also be driving the price higher. How much does a functional, complete SCAPE suit run these days? |

He isn't warranting that the suit is functional or its certification level. Cost depends on level of protection and the technology has significantly advanced since the Titan program (comparable level of protection can be had less expensively). Maybe a couple of enamored foreign collectors with money burning a hole in their pocket |

It appears to me that the feedback of 309 is the one actually driving it upward. The bidder with 27 started bidding prior to the 309's lead. This has been a three day battle between the two.Terry |

I've got an identical suit that I picked up on eBay about 4 years ago for about $200, if my memory is correct. I'm thinking that this may be the time to sell...BrianB |

Our 309 feedback bidder wanted this thing really bad. Although the bidding topped out at 11K, he'd actually entered a proxy bid that was higher. Since this suit doesn't have the correct gloves (I'd guess they'd pop right off, like a cork, if there was even a hint of internal pressure), I can't imagine that the winner would actually use this thing for its intended purpose. The seller's gotta be loving this, and I'm thinking that the "rubber fetish" in his auction description may be accurate, if a little understated. |
