I have no itention of selling, but am somewhat curious about the value of an 8x10" item I have which has been signed by the following astronauts: John Young, Charlie Duke, Al Worden, Vladimir Dzhanibekov, Jack Schmitt, Wally Schirra, Ed Mitchell, Scott Carpenter, Ed Gibson, Bob Thirsk, Pavel Popovich, Andre Kuipers, Gene Cernan, Gene Clervoy, Robert Vittori, Dave Scott, Dick Gordon, Yuri Romanenko, Frank de Winne, Pauli Nespoli, Bruce McCandless, Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, Anantoli Artsebarsky, Salizhan Shapriov, Buzz Aldrin, Joe Kerwin, Tom Jones, Brian Binnie, Hans Schlegel, Walt Cunningham, Valentina Tereshkova, Valery Bykovsky, Jack Lousma, Christer Fugelsang, Rick Searfoss, Rusty Schweickart, Alexi Leonov, Jerry Car, Yuri Onufryenko, Paul Weitz, Sigmund Jaehn, Jim McDivitt, Stan Love, Alan Poindexter, Stephen Frick, Leland Melvin, Rex Walheim, Mike Collins, Frank Borman, Reinhold Ewald, , Velery Kubasov and Al Bean? They have all signed over an Apollo 16 shot of the earth, and the litho is from Cernan's collection. Many thanks, and just a ball park figure will do. Also you can PM me if you prefer.

BTW That's a crew completion for:

Gemini 7, 10, 12
Apollo 9
ASTP - Russian Team
Soyuz 31

thanks Dwight

This will be difficult to say. Regrettably, you may have diminshed the value by having so many different signatures.

It would be worth more had it been the sixteen Apollo crew members...

I want to know how you managed to fit that many signatures on an 8x10!!

Although I do agree with Leslie, that it would have been better to stick to Apollo only

Thanks

It actually was never meant to have that many on there, it just started out mixed and varied and has stayed that way ever since. It is not something I think I'd ever sell, I'm more curious for insurance purposes. BTW The only other sigs I collect are astro-written autographed books and personalised to me.

I'll have a scan shortly (changing ISPs this weekend). Regardless of having so many sigs, it always gets a response of "WOW!". At any rate it is also a unique piece because it is so varied. But like I said, it is something I'll want my future kids/grandkids to have. Something special. On top of that ALL the sigs are legit having been signed in front of me.

How did I fit all of them on there? With a great deal of planning and difficulty. I actually scanned it prior to each astronaut meeting and would cut and paste their sigs to figure out the best location.

I think I'd say wow also. While I appreciate the thought if it only had the 16 Apollo guys on it it may be more valuable, that would hold more if it were an image of the Moon instead of the Earth.

Look at it instead of having a moonwalkers piece, or a moon voyagers piece on an Earth litho, it's a space voyagers on an Earth litho. Since it isn't a moon voyagers or moonwalkers completed item this isn't a bad idea.

Value is of course, what it's worth to you and a smattering of what the market is. To Leslie it's devalued (but I'm sure he's saying WOW too) by having too many signatures.

I had a piece for a while of the Earth, signed by Shuttle and Mercury-ASTP guys, some Cosmonauts and even added David Simons, Joe Kittinger, Bob White and Bill Dana. It was fun to put together.

To take a stab at a value, try and figure each guys signing fees, compare to what you have in it, lowball it some and that should give you an idea.

I don't think $1500 is a stretch to insure it for. But hey thats just MHO, and the beauty of this hobby.

For insuranace value, I would look at what it would cost to re-assemble these signatures again...were you to ever lose this item. Granted, some of the signers are now deceased, so replacing those signatures is impossible...though one could likely find an already-signed item from which to begin to re-construct the piece.

That is a neat piece. Think of all of the history that has touched your litho. Thanks for sharing!

The beauty of this piece for me is how well placed / balanced all of the signatures are. You have clearly worked hard on this. I am not a fan of items with many many signatures on them but I have to make an exception for this piece. It is very impressive - WOW!

Is it time to start another one?

I had thought about starting another one and there was a moon litho on Astro-Auctions which had a Mattingly signature on it. It was listed quite a few times and never sold, until the day I decided to get it. Oh well.

I have puposely left space on it for the possibility of Stafford, Mattingly, Anders and should it ever come to be...Armstrong.

I actually must thank Novaspace galleries for getting the more obscure/hard to get sigs. (I lied in one of the above posts, not all sigs were done in front of me, several were done through the custom NS signings)

There is an absolute gem of a multi-signed on R&R right now. It flows real nice with all the gold ink and mission inscriptions. That would be a nice one to keep working on--and it has Armstrong who I think is kind of unusual in gold ink signatures. Sadly, its out of my price range at this point.
