Anybody wanting to acquire a nice Apollo 11 Command Module kapton display may wish to check out the work of one Jerry Czubinski. Using Kapton acquired from Ken Havekotte, Jerry produces displays that are in my opinion, as impressive as they are good value for money. Below is one such acrylic that Jerry very kindly custom made to my own design, that comes with a wealth of supporting provenance. Look him up at threehook@pirate4x4.com. |

I don't think he has a site right now; he usually sells through ebay. I'm sure he'd be happy to send you pictures of his work if you drop him a line. |

Thank you so much for all your kind words and support. It has been a pleasure and a honor to bring something a little different to this Great Hobby with my displays. Most of all working with incredible folks such as yourselves in designing them. All my best to all of you and thank you Rick for posting this thread, your a true gentleman with a eye for detail. — Jerry |

I have to agree with what everybody has said. Jerry is a great guy. He has done a number of presentations for me. They are simply outstanding to say the least. He takes great pride in his work and it definitely shows in his lucite displays. Keep up the great work. |

I recently had Jerry Czubinski do a custom Apollo 13 display for me. This is an outstanding piece of work! I'm going to have it signed by Lovell and Haise in November at ASF. Then a light bulb went on in my head. As you all know, Jerry sells his work mainly on eBay and he does do custom displays. Anyways, he and I have been going back on forth with emails and I was wondering if people would be interested if Jerry would sell his displays at SpaceFest? He can have several options: - sell sealed displays
- sell unsealed displays so that you can have the astronauts sign them and then he can seal them in lucite and mail it back to you.
- do custom/pre-orders, tell him what you want, or provide your own flown item and he will have them ready for you at SpaceFest for signing.
What do you guys think? |

Jerry's work is indeed terrific! How about one more option for those unable to be at SpaceFest... [4] Pre-order displays that Jerry will have signed, and then mail to you. Just a thought. |

I had several of Jerry's designs signed for customers at Autographica 11: Dave Scott and Jim McDivitt were both very fulsome in their praise, and charged just the base fee! |

This is a great suggestion. If it could be done, I would be interested in having some of these. I would be particularly interested in something relating to Apollo XIII which could be signed at ASF Show perhaps? |

Does anyone know if you get charged Import Duty on these with them being small items and if so how much roughly? |

The size seems to matter not one bit. Anything over $50... I think, will result in about £30 worth of duty and fees; the dearer the item the higher the fees. |

I had Jerry do another custom display for me, this time with the Apollo 8 heatshield fragment I purchased from Florian. Jerry still has enough of the heatshield fragment to make another 2 displays. Contact him if you are interested. Get it signed at ASF or SpaceFest. |

It's worse than that, Rick: you often get caned twice: once for import duty and again by the Post Office for random 'expenses'. And the threshhold is £18 ($36).

Jerry recently got some new stuff and I've been helping him with the designs. Here are some displays for Apollo 15 and 17.
If interested, contact him directly. You can also have them unsealed and have the astronauts sign them. Send them back to Jerry so that he can seal them for you. Great for the upcoming Autographica, ASF, and SpaceFest! |

Would astronauts agree to sign flown items? I am not saying Jerry sells fake items, but if I were an astronaut, I would try to only sign flown items that NASA has issued and such. They may not know about Jerry's pieces (except for Edgar Mitchell which I think has signed these before). |

I have seen displays signed by Mitchell, Scott, and Duke. You can always ask. Jerry sends you a lot of information on the flown item. Bring along the information and show it to them. I'm sure they will become suspicious when you ask them to sign a bunch of them. With or without their autographs, the displays are really nice and affordable. |

I've posted this several times before, but you CAN appeal the VAT levied on import. You need to get a "commodity code" from HMRC after describing the item to them. If it's classified as a "historical collectible" you can get the VAT reduced to 5%. I've recovered VAT on signed items from Novaspace as well as flown items. Make sure you keep all packaging and docs. This does NOT apply if the goods are for resale (sorry, David!).Sadly the post office charges are not recoverable. A little effort goes a long way... |

I would like to add to this post by stating that I have a lot of Jerry's displays and they are an absolute delight.Besides that he is a very nice person. He made a significant contribution to a school in Oeganda I support with my school kids here in Holland. It helped to save many kids from the harsh life on the streets and elsewhere. I hope you don't mind me telling this Jerry. I recently bought an Apollo 15 and 17 display he made for me and Jerry probably still has more of them available for anyone interested. I now have the following displays from him: Apollo 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17. Apollo 16 is missing but I will fill that void in the near future and am certain Jerry will do a great job again. |

Seems like other people are also producing items similar to Jerry's and using Ken's items. Take a look. Any thoughts on these? From France! |

In the past, Jerry told me that he was supplying some displays to spacetimeexplorer. By the way, didn't Armstrong and Aldrin walked on the moon on July 20, not July 24th? I've actually have been helping Jerry on a 40th anniversary display this past month. Hopefully he will have it ready for SpaceFest plus another surprise. |

Just to clarify, the acrylics being offered by 'spacetimeexplorer' are not produced by Jerry, nor are they affiliated with his own line of artifact displays. Jerry recalls selling a few of his acrylics to 'spacetimeexplorer', which in turn may have been re-sold, but from that point forward, the France-based seller decided to go into production for him/herself. |

Interesting displays, I contacted Jerry to check if he has still a few available. Did you guys send him flown kapton foil pieces purchased elsewhere of did he supply the whole thing. Searching with Google revealed that a few years back a large piece was sold from Buzz Aldrin's personal collection so I guess that has been cut in pieces so we can all enjoy a great flown item? |

In October 2008 I bid on and won a seven inch piece of Apollo 8 kapton that came with excellent provenance and traded with him. He is outstanding to deal with. I believe he has many sources and contacts. Jerry is very vigilant, attentive and strict about accompanying provenance with his items. |
