I have an Apollo Beta patch display that was produced by Owens/Corning Fiberglass back in the 70's. It features the patches of all of the Apollo missions as well as the American flag patch. It is nicely framed and matted around each patch. Anyone have any idea of the value of this? Thanks for any help. |

Hello... I am NOT an expert but these displays usually seem to sell in the 300-400 dollar range. That is usually the average I have observed over the years. Best... Donald |

Concur... I have been looking to acquire one of these sets in excellent condition for quite some time and would have no problem paying in that range.------------------ Scott Schneeweis http://www.SPACEAHOLIC.com/ |

These displays are sometimes broken-up to sell the individual patches but this is a shame as they're cut very close to the designs and look much better in the original presentation. |

Does anyone know how many of these displays were originally produced by Owens Corning? |

Oh, wow. I've had one of these for about ten years and have been meaning to post about it. Mine's seen its better days (there's some brown blotching in the text block down at the bottom; looks like the adhesive is reacting with the paper, or the acid in the paper is reacting, or something) and the frame is long gone, but the beta cloth and emblems are in great shape and the matting is there and looks fine. I think I bought it in an antique shop for $25 back in the day, and I've never seen another like it around. If I wanted to clean mine up and reproduce the original framing, how were these originally presented? Wooden or metal frame? Glass or no glass? Any other hints as to how best to stabilize/preserve it will be appreciated, too. Thanks in advance -- jodie |

I believe they were originally mounted in a metal (chrome/silver) frame with glass (not 100% certain though on the frame). I have one that I have re-mounted in a wood frame with glass and it looks great. I didn't mind re-framing it in something different because the rest of the piece remains intact and un-altered. As far as damage due to acid I would ask a reputable frame shop if acid free paper can be inserted to the area in question but not sure its' going to make much difference at this point (after 40 years). Nice piece either way though. |
