Photographs are far from my expertise. I have just finished cleaning out my father-in-law's basement who recently passed away and found some large color NASA photos on heavy stock that are in the original mailing envelope from the government printing office from the 1960s. Most are crew photos of the early Apollo crews and a few of Apollo 8 legendary shots.
Are these worth any premium today or are they the same that can still be had through the printing office or NASA? There was also a 8 1/2 X 11 paperback mission profile for Apollo 17 from the same time. Any help with this would also be helpful. Your help is appreciated. Howard

More info is needed to determine value. Are they 8x10 or are they larger? Are they actually photographic prints (on Kodak paper) or are they lithos?

Howard,
You first need to determine if they are photos or lithos. If they are lithos from the early years, they might have MSCL or JSCL numbers on the back. In addition, many lithos from the late 50's, 60's and 70's might not have numbers on the back. Also, some lithos that are now out of print, maybe of more value to collectors who like to seek autographs on lithos. The difference in collecting lithos, NASA photos or NASA glossies I have found is really up to the individual collector.

I am going away on vacation however, I'm sure members of this forun will be happy to assist you. If you need any assistance, please contact me at rail3cards@aol.com

Good Luck!

Best,

Bob

Here is the best desciption I can provide for this set. I have 12 of these photos. They are in the original mailing envelope from the US Government printing office. The bottom on the envelope states - Price: $1.25 per set (7 color prints)
On the other corner it reads - Apollo - "In the beginning..." NASA picture set No. 1

The prints measure 11" x 14" - All are in color and are have printed notation on the front explaining what the image is. The reverse also have detailed description at the top and the bottom reads - NASA and Photo No. 69-HC-609 (Obviously each photo has a different number)

I have the following images -
A& crew, A8 crew, A9 crew, A10 crew, A11 crew, A8 launch, Saturn V rollout, A8 Earth view, A8 Earth rise, A9 LM in orbit, A9 Scott spacewalk, A10 Command module in moon orbit

I would welcome a fair offer for the entire package - Thank you - Howard

All times are CT (US)
