First, I apologize to all the hardcore Space autograph collectors who don't have interest in other autograph fields. However, because many of you collect autographs in other areas, I think it is important to once again let you know that PSA/DNA has little business authenticating outside of sports. In particular, I note the August 16th R&R Auction, in which a supposedly in person Richard Nixon signed baseball is offered for sale. There is also a picture of this supposed event along with COAs from John Reznikoff and PSA/DNA. Guess what? This is an extremely common Nixon forgery - routinely offered by E-bay sellers hailtothechiefsigs, romancedance, and johnsonin64 (which incidently are all the same person). In fact check this closed E-bay auction link and you can see this same identical picture - associated with a different forged Nixon baseball. These sellers have sold dozens of forged Nixon balls using the same picture. Similar forged Nixon balls without the picture can also be found. Once again, because something is authenticated by PSA/DNA, John Reznikoff, or Bob Eaton, doesn't mean your autograph is real. Kurt- I know the exact place that photo was taken. It was taken Halloween night at a complex called the Bears Nest in Park Ridge New Jersey. That is why the clown wig is in the photo. It is about 5 minutes off the the northernmost exit of the Garden State Parkway. I grew up right up there and Nixon was a big part of the community. He would sit on his porch often, go to the public pool and walk around the complex. Very good to the public. He ended up living his last days there. His particular apartment still has the black hand railing to this day. The complex did not allow railings but to this day I believe he is the lone exception. I too, have seen this photo many times from many different people. Great thread- Jay [This message has been edited by 4allmankind (edited July 28, 2006).] |

Michael,I have contacted Auction Houses many times in the past telling them that specific autographs were fake - and if they wanted more specific information that I could provide them proof. Yet none have responded to my offers even though I have over 30 years experience collecting autographs, the majority in person. All these places believe they and their authenticators are the sole experts. This is the reason why I prefer to share my knowledge here. Kurt | |
