Oh dear oh dear... At $260 and climbing, someone needs to convince this guy that his 'treasure' is actually autopenned... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2291459285 |

I saw a Edwin Aldrin on Lunar legacies just after the site was launched the E was slightly blurred as he was jyst about to sign Buzz and it was about the same price as a Buzz signature, I'm still kicking myself over this one.But yep the ebay offering looks auto pen to me! |

I don't have a copy of "relics" but IMHO the Collins definately looks good and the Armstrong doesn't match any autopen patterns I've seen but the Aldrin does match one of the AP patterns on the sbeck Geocities web site. |

I know there was a period back when Buzz was charging $100 through the mail in the early 90s when he would sign something "Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr." on request. But that was a whole lot of money to me back then and I never sent anything.
Checks signed with his original name can still be easily had for $50 and up. There is usually one on eBay at any given time. |

Back around 1990 or so Buzz Legally changed his name from Edwin to Buzz so he can no longer sign "Edwin" as his name . Lois sent me a letter spelling that out as I had him sign 4 photos for me as "Edwin E. Aldrin Jr." and am I glad he did as all he signs now is Buzz. I was always glad I secured the Edwin E. Aldrin signature !! Best To All..Don |

He legally changed his name to Buzz Aldrin in 1982. I would think he would be able to sign it any way he liked. Maybe not on official documents, but surely on photos, etc. Of course, if he prefers not to, that's certainly his right.
That's cool he signed like that for you, Mike. I asked before the signing a couple of years ago and was told that he would not.
