Hi allI've been looking at a couple of copies of Moon Shot signed by Alan Shepard - specifically the ones with the signature on the attached bookplate. Does anyone have any information about the signing of these books, and if the bookplate is a publishing house autopen? I'd like to read the book, and it would be great to obtain a signed copy! Thanks Eilis |

I have a signed bookplate I obtained by writing to the publisher when Moonshot was published. They sent me a hand written letter stating the bookplate was signed by Alan Shepard. The signature in blue ink looks good to me. I later bought a signed copy of Moonshot and never used the bookplate. |

At one time the signed bookplate was what you received if you wrote to Alan Shepard for an autograph.Regards, Ian from Oz |

Has anyone noticed that a genuine Shepard has a reversed loop on both the 'p' and the 'l' with also no curved tail on the 'l'? Or am I barking up the wrong tree. I have examples of both I think! |

I have a Moonshot signed in person. He did a number of tours signing this book. I also took my copy of "We Seven" for him to sign, but he refused.Mark |

A few years back, I purchased several copies of "Moon Shot" at a fund raiser for the Deke Slayton Center in Seattle. Unable to attend, Mr. Shepard sent a number of books signed on the bookplate. Before dinner, we had the opportunity for the other astronauts in attendance to sign our books. Dennis |

I have been looking for a signed copy of Moon Shot for sometime. I already had a signed copy but it was one of the more common A. Shepard signatures. I found this one on Donnis Willis's webpage. http://www.lunarlegacies.com/images/Apollo%20Auto/shepard-book.jpg I purchased it and I think it is great. Has anyone done an e-bay search under Alan Shepard lately? It makes a guy sick. I have never seen so many "unusual" Shepards listed at the same time. Just take a look! More rotten Shepard's than good. Mike |

FYI on autographed copies of Moon Shot: Bobby Slayton did a book signing in Clear Lake, Texas. She signed Deke! and Moon Shot. It seemed to be therapeutic for her and a way of helping Deke and Alan get their books launched. Those that got her signature could have added Shepard when he came to town a few months later. Not sure how many got both signatures in Moon Shot, since I recall Shepard looked very surprised to see Bobby's signature already in the book. |

On the day I obtained a Shepard signed copy of Moonshot at a signing in Manchester, England in 1994, I also got my copy of We Seven signed by the man himself. But that was when I caught up with him privately earlier that day. At the bookshop he stuck to signing the book of the day which is usual I think for such events.Regards, Rick |
