I'd bidded on one of "rogersbooks55" (EBay user ID) covers signed by Jimmy Dootlittle, Scott Crossfield and Chuck Yeager. On closer inspection the Yeager and Crossfield seemed good but I was worried about the Dootlittle so checked out his EBay feedback. He has 98.3 positive feed but I checked up on his negatives and they were NOT good. All his military and space autographs seem to come from his friends collections. They all have this in the description line "authentically signed (Not a facsimile, stamped or autopen signature) of Jimmy Doolittle and test pilots Scott Crossfield and Chuck Yeager. This is from a group of military and science related autographs a friend of mine won at auction and is selling individually. A COA from Rogersbooks will be provided if requested when sending payment." I checked out his other auctions and he's offering covers signed by Yeager, Crossfield, Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Mike Collins and others from the space program. IMHO the Yeager's and Crossfield's are good but everything are pure bad forgeries. Here's the URL to his Armstrong/Collins/Aldrin/Yeager cover. As far as I am concerned its as though he's had items signed by Yeager or Crossfield but to make them more "valuable" to sell he's added other space/aviation pioneer's signatures which are clearly forged so as to make a killing. If this seller is a member of this list and he can prove that these are genuine I'll eat my hat!! Regards, Derek Horne |

The Armstrong/Aldrin/Collins sigs look to be traced from autopen patterns; they are, IMO, autopens at BEST, and I accordingly don't have much confidence in the Doolitle, Crossfield or Yeager sigs either, though the Yeager seems to be the best of the bunch. Chancy stuff. |

Check out these actual feedback comments from his "winning" 98.3% feedback (my rule of thumb is if there's lots of feedbacks left and it's still under 99%, stay away): "Document false step of answer of the salesman cheating on the sale FAUX ! FAUX
Sold fakes w/aCOA, promised a refund, never delivered. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!! Beware!! Autographed items appear to be forged. No satisfactory response. CROOK BEWARE FRAUDULANT ITEMS DOES NOT COMMUNICATE CK PAST!!!!!!!!" |

Philip, I've no idea how my hat tastes but am certain that these multi-signed items are forgeries. Some poor guys is buying this right now on eBay and the bid is $203 for a Chuck Yeager autograph and three hopelessly produced forged signatures of the Apollo 11 crew. I posted this to the forum and had did not have anyone check this out for me. I stand by my own opinion that these are forgeries and that this person has ruined covers signed by Yeager and Crossfield. Regards, Derek |

P.S. You'll notice that all his aviation/space items are private auctions but his baseball pics are not. Wonder why? ;0) |

The Armstrong/Aldrin/Collins/Yeager "signed" cover just went for $203.50. And the guy can't even be contacted that bought it because it was a private auction. |

Actually this is a long shot, but if the buyer leaves the seller feedback, their Ebay name will be shown on the sellers feedback profile. However, the item number will be concealed. Who knows, maybe one can get lucky and make contact with the buyer this way. Look at the sellers feedback responses and you'll see what I'm talking about. Just throwing in my 2 cents. |
