I’m preparing an adult class on the Mercury Program. Does anyone have pictures of the Mercury astronauts in their military uniforms? I found a few but they aren’t really good pictures. Thanks.

Look at the photos taken when they received their service (USAF, US Navy, US Marine Corps) astronaut wings. John Glenn even has an official portrait in his brown US Marine Corps service dress and in his black USMC gala uniform wearing the US Navy astronaut wings!

Although it was a somber occasion, there are also photos of six of the seven attending Gus Grissom's funeral at Arlington.
