I acquired sterling silver plates flown aboard Gemini 4, the first US spacewalk, from the collection of Jim McDivitt. I'm not sure why Jim never melted the silver down and had it cast, which is what one would ordinarily do with silver plates, but I decided to do so in honor of his and Ed's mission. From this silver, I was able to cast 10 EVA astronaut pins and 10 Gemini capsule pins. Three of each were embedded within lucite (one has already been sold), one pair was framed alongside an official Gemini 4 spacewalk red number litho from the Grissom family collection, and the remaining six pairs were left loose. Each piece comes with a segment of the flown sterling silver left over from the casting, a before and after, if you will. These pieces are also available to buy individually. These pins are very affordable compared to flown pins from other missions! These will sell out, so be sure to secure one for yourself. Each piece is available here.
