One sold at Heritage yesterday for less than $1000 inclusive of buyers fee: very cheap.

Novaspace is currently selling flown Apollo 9 patches for $700 (on sale from $1300). However, they're not signed on the back. To me, that absolutely destroys the resale value. I completely trust that I'd be getting a flown patch from Novaspace; but if I ever needed to sell it, the COA would be mostly useless, because anyone could just sell an unflown patch with the real COA.

I wish Novaspace did what Susy Young has done with John's collection, and sealed each unsigned patch in a tamper-proof sleeve with a serial number.

But anyway, if you're fairly certain you'll never need to resell it, Novaspace is a great place to get one now.

There are many flown patches that the astronauts have been able to sign but there are also many they could not. A patch is THE most difficult item to sign, especially for an older person.

Jim entrusted us with his flown items and was unable to sign all of his patches. Instead he signed COA's for them that have very high resolution scans of the patches so that it would be vary easy to identify. While they do not have his signature they are still highly collectable and can be resold just at a lower value than a signed one.

Also, you have to be the owner of the items if you want to get something encapsulated. We already looked into it.
