An avid space collector who I'm friends with has one of the Moonpans framed displays that Mike put together for Dave Scott. The display has one of the extremely rare LRV001 mini license plates that Dave carried on the lunar surface. This display also has a US flag that Dave carried on the surface of the moon. The last item is a photo of Dave with the LRV that he autographed. This display comes with Dave Scott's original signed COA, Steve Zarelli's COA and the provenance is beyond reproach. These are very well known and I believe Mike said there were 10 framed displays that he assembled and sold. The number of the flown LRV001 mini license plates is between 16 to 20, but Dave couldn't remember exactly how many were in the pack. Suffice it to say this is one of the rarest lunar surface flown pieces available for sale, that comes with bulletproof provenance. My friend is asking $35,000 or best offer. If you're interested, please send me an email and we'll chat. I'm going to be in Normandy from May 30 to June 14, so if anyone in Europe is interested, I can hand deliver it after June 14. Thanks. |

URGENT! The display mentioned in the above post and shown below is the stolen Apollo 15 OPS US Flag and rover license plate display. The numbered edition is 7 of 10. It was stolen out of the FedEx distribution center in Fullerton, CA. in February, 2021. It has recently surfaced in Huntington Beach, CA. The display is 13.75" by 17" in a black frame. The edition number is printed the matte under the lower right hand corner of the Dave Scott signed photo of him on the rover. The display also has a Dave Scott signed COA attached to the back of it and the 7 to 10 edition number was written in ink by Dave Scott. There are markings on both the flag and plate. All OPS flags were marked with an ink based number, so if the attempt to break up and sell the pieces separately would be immediately identified. A recovery attempt was made by Ray Holt once he was alerted to the display's theft. It has failed, so this email is to alert any collector offered the piece to know that the piece is stolen and needs to be returned to RR Auctions. Any help is appreciated. And spread the word! Thanks. | |
